Summer has arrived, and with it: warm weather, longer days, and the burning sun above your heads. Sporadic rain can happen in a flash, so residents are encouraged to carry umbrellas. This is the first of Diacht's months, so the city is bedazzled with red, white, and the occasional splash of blue here and there for decor.
If you are curious about the situation of the city at large, have a look at our current World Status Page!
❥ PROMPT I: Hana-hacking

With the turning of the seasons, the weather warms up and Diacht's influence grows in strength. 'Tis the season to be honest with one another, because if you aren't, you may begin to feel a tickle in the back of your throat…
For those who have feelings repressed, secrets unaddressed, or maybe just won't confide in a friend when they're feeling depressed, the gods work in mysterious ways. Specifically, in the fact that the offworlders may find themselves coughing up flower petals. Whether petals of plantlife from Havenwell itself or another world entirely, the longer one goes without confessing their troubles or sentiments the more insistent their condition until they might even have trouble getting through a whole sentence without finding a corsage's worth stuck in their mouth. Speaking minor truths will lessen the effect a little at a time, while larger or more impactful ones will work to cure it completely.
While not painful or otherwise physically harmful, the affliction does feel awkward and very likely doesn't taste all that great. Not to mention it's going to be difficult to keep secrets when everyone can see you have a mouthful of flower.

❥ PROMPT II: 'Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs

Yet another indication that the world is recovering is the reappearance of the Fairy Lights. As the weather turns warmer, these beautiful little insects take to the air for their mating dances at night, dimly and softly glowing like Earth's fireflies or lightning bugs. These tiny little bugs float through the air, flitting about as their bodies pulse with light. The Fairy Lights come in a multitude of colors from red to purple, turning the night into soft rainbows of light. They make their triumphant reappearance in two locations: the botanical gardens and the green belt that grew up where the old wall used to be. Their beautiful displays start once the sun goes down and stop at sunrise, and natives are delighting in their return by taking walks among them.
If offworlders follow suit, they'll notice that the Fairy Lights are attracted to those who come in pairs or more, especially those who engage in sustained positive contact with each other while among them. The Fairy Lights seem to enjoy it when people are touching and will land upon them, one of each color until a rainbow has formed - usually in a crown around the head. Once the rainbow crown of Fairy Lights is complete, that character will feel a pleasant calmness and a feeling of peace and happiness wash over them. For as long as you and your partner(s) are in contact, the Fairy Lights will stay and so will the peace they confer. Once contact is broken, one by one the little insects will fly away, off to find a new perch.

MOD QUESTIONS
Ghost | World of Darkness: Werewolf the Apocalypse OC | OTA
He'd done a very good job staying out of sight and avoiding being noticed since he'd arrived and so far he hadn't caught anyone looking at him longer than a glance. Even his several-sizes-too-big-gray-t-shirt-that-didn't-really-belong-to-him* hadn't been drawn much attention. Sadly, for the shy, small, thirteen year old that didn't work as well when you make a scene in public.
You know.. like shriek.
So there he was standing on the sidewalk somewhere in public with probably people around, staring in total horror after spitting a couple of yellow azalea petals into his hand and panicking.
PROMPT II: 'Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs
In the midst of all the beautiful Fairy Lights came a white blur of fur and happy yips. The out-of-place arctic fox zoomed free along the trees and nature, jumping up to try and gently catch the Fairy Lights with his mouth. He didn't expect to succeed, but if he did, he very carefully let the Fairy go again on the nearest soft flower or pile of leaves he could find.
As much fun as it was to play with the Fairy Lights, there were other people who should be playing too! In a rare bout of bravery, when he spots someone alone in the woods with him (that doesn't look too intimidating) and maybe has something easy for him to snatch, he races by and catches whatever they're holding (a scarf or hat or whatever) and takes off with it. They'll thank him later! Running is fun!
[ooc: *T-shirt stolen from Gladio with permission from player.]

"Hey!"
He could hear the skittering of paws darting away from him and quickly chased after. For now he wasn't going to do anything drastic, but the fox might be getting iced if Devon fell behind. He couldn't let anything take his staff.

I.
He can't simply let this go.
Eyeing the yellow petals, the very tall Elf gently lowers himself to be more on a level with with the small thirteen year old. He smiles. No sense adding alarm to alarm.
"Oh, hello. There's no cause for worry." Even if there is—surely something can be done about it, and it's better not to panic. "I'm here to help."

Wildard?
"Hey, lil one." He'd murmur to it in a low, pleasant drawl.
The sound of something running through the underbrush caught his attention then, and he turned his eyes away from the bug and down toward the forest floor to see a streak of white. A fox? So far he'd only seen alien looking creatures. That was the first Earth-like entity he'd seen so far. He gave a flick of his finger, sending the firefly back into the sky before he sat himself up, turned and dropped effortlessly to the ground, landing in a crouch that brought him low enough to get a better look at the fox.
"Hey, boy. Where did'ya come from, huh?" Shu asked and stretched out a hand toward it. "You friendly?"

Maglor | The Silmarillion
[Maglor is not prepared to discuss his difficulties with strangers. He hasn't truly conversed with anyone in centuries. He doesn't see the point in going into detail about himself; what good would it do? Yet the customs of this place do lead him inexorably toward social interaction. This is not necessarily unwanted, but difficulties do arise. How does one speak with others again? It used to be so easy! When addressed, he would rather keep conversation as simple and unremarkable as possible, no more taxing than is necessary. Unfortunately, that's not always possible. Such as when someone asks him if something's wrong.]
Oh, no. I am f—
[I am fine, he means to say, but the words don't seem to come. Instead, a handful of white petals tumbles from his lips. He's quick enough to catch them in his scarred hands, eyes widening. He tries again.
There is nothing w—
[Nothing wrong, he fully intends to say, but he finds himself faced with the same result. Only this time, the flower petals are yellow, instead. He gazes down at them in consternation, so small and soft in his cupped hands. He takes a step back.]
II. Fairy Lights
[There is something enchanting about the way the insects move and shine, and Maglor finds himself entranced by them. He feels the urge to raise his voice and sing to them, or maybe to spin in a dance with them, to twirl in tribute to their floating and glowing—although he has had no impact on their movements so far, as he came here alone.
For now, he limits himself to watching them. This display is stunning, and he cannot help but want to learn more.]
Do you know much of these creatures?
III. See the Sights
[Maglor does not object to the robotic nature of Havenwell's inhabitants, who are very alien to him. He is more concerned by the fact that they are people, and he is unused to living among people. The thought of living in the middle of a city is—unthinkable. Maybe it shouldn't be. Maybe he should be glad to rejoin the company of others, but it's too much, too soon.
Instead, he finds himself traveling as far outward as he can, to the green belt that marks the location of the old city walls. Perhaps he can find somewhere in this green place to make a camp? No... everywhere, even here, seems too close to others. It's nothing like the isolation he's grown used to, and he feels too exposed, vulnerable. Even when he comes across a stand of potentially promising saplings, he has to shake his head as he mutters to himself.]
No, no good.
[He's heard it's possible to go even farther. He glances toward the wall, thoughtfully.]
III
While Devon had heard Maglor wandering, he hadn't seen any reason to get involved with the other's musing. Or at least he hadn't been intending too. Now that Maglor was standing so nearby and was clearly looking for something he wanted to at least try to be helpful.]

As if running into one of his foster fathers after all this time is normal. He'd searched for years, only to hear Maedhros was as good as confirmed dead. But Maglor? Only a voice on the wind. Rumors. Just a ghost that refused Mandos' call. ]
Pretty. The first bunch were better though.
[ Voice carefully controlled, as if simmering fury and longing isn't a tight grip on his heart.
The grin is sharp as he drags his gaze up to fix on the familiar face. ]
Guess you can't lie to my face right now. So.
[ Questions die on his tongue - Elrond wouldn't have this trouble.
Elrond. The new King of Numenor draws himself up a little, eyes narrowing. ]
Where have you been?
[ He doesn't have to be dressed richly for the sense of a leader to rest firmly on his shoulders. ]
Haha, oh my god, I wasn't expecting that! (And Maglor wasn't either!)
XD I heard there was a Maglor on this TDM and had to poke. (And Elros has THINGS to say)
I always appreciate being poked, haha. Thank you!

It was always... easier to tell when there was a new face around, anyway. Time of the month hardly seemed as significant, but the world was changing. She does, at least, do her part to indicate to the worried citizens that she'll assist if they desist in upsetting the elven like stranger further. Not a position she necessarily feels comfortable assuming, but at least they're near enough to the Affurgato cafe to warrant some intervention. ]
... It is not my wish to disturb you further, but if you wouldn't mind a place you might have some more seclusion for a time, there is a location nearby that might help. If you do not mind cats, of course... although you might want to be mindful about your petals before we allow them to approach.
[ That's a lot to say at once, probably, so she makes no further moves, since he likely would need the time to process or acknowledge-- or even refuse, of course, but she's not going to force him. ]

Shu hadn't realised anyone had joined him until they'd literally ran into him. A form bumped into his side and the redhead stumbled to the side a little and laughed.]
No sweat. Shouldn't've been stood in the middle of the path like that.
[He gestured toward the fireflies and grinned. Clearly he'd been distracted himself.]

now that i'm done being distracted by victorian flower language--
Even a mouthful of vegetation can't keep him from acting like talking to people is torture. He just stops every so often and coughs like he caught something in the Brume for a few minutes, spitting flower petals into the bushes.
But seeing Alphinaud--for it is, unmistakably, him--draws him up short in surprise.]

DiNA | Fallout 4
All these changes were wearing him out. He needed a quite place to reboot his mind. Finding a clearing in a hidden away section of the gardens, he sat on a bench to rest, powering down to sleep mode.
While he 'slept', the little fairies eventually found him, all by himself. This wouldn't do! Clearly this person was desperately lonely! They needed to help this poor robot.
Some of them stayed behind while the majority flitted off to get a friend for DiMA to play with. They zipped and zooped high and low through the garden until they finally found someone. Making urgent little fairy noises, the little swarm grabbed onto who they found, pushing and pulling them towards the clearing.
Alisaie Leveilleur | FFXIV
Alisaie delicately picks a single petal from her jacket and flicks it onto the ground. Whatever that was, It seems to have subsided for the moment.
Having arrived recently, it seems reasonable to ask the locals about her location. That would prove difficult with flower petals - of all things - impairing her ability to speak. What would cause them to appear in her mouth like that?
She walks for a few yalms and sees someone nearby. They would make as good a starting point as any. She approaches and begins by saying, "Could I have but a moment of your ti--" The sentence isn't finished before she makes a hiccup noise and a few soft flower petals gush into the air.
Prompt 2
It's impossible not to appreciate such a sight. Alisaie looks up and around as the little flecks of glowing lights float through the air. She's never seen anything quite like it.
Against her...more mature judgment, she reaches up and cups her hands around one of the nearby insects so she can more closely examine one of the little glows in her hands. "Hello, little light." She says to it.
1
Despite the words, she can't help smiling. She's seen that face before, and she suspects she knows who this is.

Midnight | BNHA
Hana-Hacking
[Nemuri wasn't one to keep a lot of secrets, out of the typical teacher - students style of secrets. (and those she didn't consider secrets. Those were a professional issue.) But, she still finds herself with a mouthful of flower petals once in a while, and not knowing the source... although it's probably related to last bit of time on Earth. She can be found around the city, every once in a while, pulling some out of her mouth and throwing them into a nearby trash bin.]
I wonder what's causing these...
From Ten Thousand Lightning Bugs
[You know, for second chances, this one was ok. There wasn't a bunch of fighting, no wars against villains. And it seemed a spirit of cooperation between the residents and people they brought in. Maybe this wasn't the afterlife, but this was the best she was going to get.
She could actually... relax. At least a little.
She found herself in the gardens these days. Especially because of the firefly like creatures that seem to be gathering around. At night, she can be found relaxing in the gardens with the Fairy Lights.]
[ooc: You can also let me know if you want a wildcard or such sort! :)]
Lightning Bugs
And of course, then she spots a familiar person. It feels like it's a ghost, at first; just a vision of her teacher like Mina had many times before after regaining all those memories from her world, a vision mostly out of grief that she has been trying to get past. But even though Mina shakes her head and rubs her eyes, that person is still there.
And her heart drops and Mina feels her throat tight. it's hard to speak at first, but Mina eventually walks up to Midnight and speaks up, voice very quiet and soft, afraid that the woman will disappear ]

Héctor | Coco | Penance (Hell) CRAU | OTA
The place is pristine in a way that unsettles him. It's pretty, certainly, but it seems too perfect. It's not entirely that it feels like a trick (or even a wholesale illusion) but it does make him feel like he doesn't belong here. Limping along in his same old rags with only the new addition of an actual button-up under his torn jacket, he knows he sticks out. Not to mention, that while passing the shops he actually had a moment of missing the vices of Hell. That was horrifying.
He shakes himself of that. Best not to think of that place until he knows more of what's going on. The last thing he needs for these people and robots to figure out--
The coughing fit takes him by surprise. Stupid, ridiculous body functions, why wasn't he a skeleton again? He beats a fist against his sternum a moment before he tastes the petals on his tongue. He spits them to the ground.
"...Cempasuchils...?" He stares in utter disbelief. "How long has that been there?"
PROMPT II: 'Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs
Despite being very, very much over certain flowers (at least for the time being) the proverbial greenbelt still draws him. Besides Mammon's gardens, it's been a long, long time since he's much green. He had to go. But, once he's there, he finds his attention drawn up instead.
The little lights dance slow overhead. He's accustomed to the bioluminescence of the alebrijes but there's something more magical about these gently drifting little spots of light.
"Do you think they bite? Or, you know, converge into a raging inferno of pain?"
2
But they're not going to let their guard down. Not with Héctor here and it being possible that he'd suffer some sort of consequence for breaking something. Anything. It's why they've been sticking to his side so closely. Just in case. No, they're not paranoid.
"Could poke 'em with a stick and see what happens." Nekane suggests. They're watching the spots of light carefully. It still feels like there's flowers in their throat but they'll live. This is more interesting. "But I haven't seen shit catch on fire yet."

Lan Wang Ji | Untamed | (Voice-testing)
If the goal was to make him homesick, seeing the Fairy Lights did it. Of course, even these weren't quite like home. It felt too disloyal to admit it, even to himself, but the multi-colored display just might be lovelier than the fireflies of China.
Either way, it made him feel incredibly alone. So he found a large, flat stone and sat besides it. With a wave of his hand a seven string Chinese instrument known as a guqin appeared. He softly started to play. He continues with a few others as well, but none with quite the same feeling as that first one. If given enough time, his voice is added to the original song as he plays it one more time.
[2. Just Like Glue]
It was like this new world was trying to drive him crazy. It was already very uncomfortable with so much being unfamiliar from the way people dressed, to the technology, and don't even get him started on the horrifying manners of just about everyone he'd encountered.
So why on top of everything else, did he have to endure someone rudely bumping into him in a crowded area- which he already detested- and stick to him?!

Adam Parrish | The Raven Cycle
Repressed feelings, unaddressed secrets, not confiding in friends--all of those applied to Adam. It didn't help that he didn't have friends here, and the friends he had back home...well, things were complicated, to put it lightly. There was a lot on his mind, leaving him more or less distressed and unsure what to do with himself. Which eventually led him to cough up a handful of red rose petals in the middle of the sidewalk.
He stared at them in horror, plucking a stubborn one out of his mouth and staring at it. He expected coughing up petals to hurt but it didn't. The last time something strange and plant-related had happened to him it had been because of Cabeswater...but the forest was gone and this couldn't be because of it. In short, he had no idea what was going on or why. Or if it was going to get worse and become a detriment to his health.
"Excuse m-" he started to say to someone who happened to be nearby, but stopped to cough up another few petals.
b. 'Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs
The Fairy Lights were beautiful, and Adam was content to sit on the ground out of the way and watch them, even if none of them strayed too close to him. He was keen and it didn't take him long to figure out, by watching others in the area, that the Fairy Lights seemed to be attracted to people doing things like hugging and holding hands and just being close to each other. He didn't understand why, though. They were insects; how could they know when people were engaging in physical contact?
He smiled a little if anyone approached him, but didn't move to get up. "You wouldn't happen to know why the bugs seem to like people who-" he gestured to a couple of people holding hands. "-would you?"
c. Network | Video
Hello.
[He didn't sound shy, exactly, just quiet.]
I've got a question. Maybe two.
Does anyone know why physical contact is supposed to save this world? And is there any way for us to get home?
That's it.
[He hesitated for a moment, then added-] Thank you.

Steve Rogers | MCU | OTA
Yet again, Steve spat what seemed like enough petals for an entire bouquet onto the ground. It wasn't that he wanted to litter, but the petals just kept coming, and quite without any decent explanation.
It certainly wasn't the fact that he kept trying to insist that he was fine when anyone glanced his way, as a whole hydrangea bush seemed to be trying to escape his throat. He didn't even know where the damn petals were coming from. "I don't suppose you know how to make this stop?" he asks the next person to come up to him, without even looking to see who it is.
A Thousand Hugs
The little bugs are positively mesmerizing, and Steve's picked out a patch of grass to lie on his back and watch them, a lazy smile on his face. "It's like that Van Gogh painting, Starry Night, don't you think?"

The Winter Soldier/Bucky | MCU | OTA
There was a whole trail of petals, leading behind a building, into a somewhat quiet alleyway. There, behind whatever meager cover he could find, the Winter Soldier was crouching, coughing up more plant life every time he opened his mouth. He didn't know what the fuck was going on, but his usual solutions of 'shoot it', 'blow it up', or 'just do you're told until the pain stops' were not working.
A Thousand Hugs
It wasn't often he had the chance to let himself feel much of anything, so when the Winter Soldier found himself abandoned, and in the midst of something so magical? It was no wonder he stopped in the middle of the road, gazing up at the fireflies like a child, transfixed.
Hana-hacking
Just when he gets close enough, the person he wants to see the very most- Tony Stark- strolls out with a mug of beer, reading something from his communicator, and plops down at one of the tables. It takes him a moment to take a drink and then look around.

Isaac Moriah | The Binding of Isaac | cw references to child abuse
Isaac does not like flies. Flies like Isaac. Flies like trying to kill Isaac very much, whether by shooting gobbets of blood at him or just zipping towards him to attack. Which probably explains why there's a five-year-old child running away screaming from the little fairy lights. He probably needs to be calmed down.

There's a little kid with a shaved head wandering the streets of Havenwell, scratching at his clothes from time to time. They don't feel right after so long. He used to wear clothes to school, but when mom heard God tell her he needed to have the impure things taken away from him, it wasn't just toys. It was everything. And it was all his fault. He was bad. It was his fault dad left.
He's still walking around barefoot, which feels fine. He tried putting socks and shoes on. They felt weird and abrasive, and the shoes made him feel too tall.
Isaac is looking around at all the sights, and there's fresh air and sunshine, which is such a welcome change from the basement. He doesn't look lost, just curious. It's all so different here. He's avoiding the robots, though. He doesn't trust the robots.

And then a small child runs screaming through the scene. The fairy lights scatter. But that's no longer important.
"Whoa, hey." He hops up and heads off in the direction the kid had gone, calling out, "Hey, kid? You okay?"

Kaworu Nagisa | Neon Genesis Evangelion
[ he has been here before. Kaworu remembers it, and although he doesn't remember leaving and doesn't remember what happened between now and then, he knows some time has passed - Havenwell looks different. Bigger than before, too. It looks like Lilin have worked hard to heal this city, and it looks like there has been reward; knowing this brings a smile to Kaworu's lips, because this is further proof Lilin can keep going despite adversity, even if the world looks like it will be destroyed.
This is why he loves them so much.
He doesn't understand why he has been brought back, however. After all, he is not involved in this; as an angel, kaworu is not meant to have a role in this world's healing. He had said so before, and before he chose to help simply out of desire to be sent back to his own dying world (if he fixed this place, perhaps he could go back. it made sense). And such worked, and yet it did not because he is back to this same place.
Like a timeloop.
he wonders if this is just that, although he knows it's not. It feels like it, but it's a false cycle.
He should not be here. Kaworu glances at Ainea temple, his god back then, and his god for now too. One day, he would like to speak to the gods directly, but for now, all he can tell Ainea is:] There is not enough value in this existence to go this far. [ why waste power on him, when kaworu has no value? Still, he smiles ] Perhaps you will realize that. You have, before.
[ basically: hey. send him back, ainea. why are you doing all of this again? ]
Hana-hacking
[ maybe smiles and philosophical words are not enough to be sent back. And maybe gods don't like to be told what to do. But Kaworu's first couple of days in this place end up with him cursed.
Cursed is a strong word and one Kaworu will not use, but it's a word Lilin would use to refer to whatever is happening right now. Coughing up flowers is not normal, and kaworu is going through that quite unceremoniously because what is happening. Not only he never had a coughing fit in his life, he also never coughed up flowers, so this combo is terrible to say the least.
Wheezing slightly, he spits out a couple of more flowers before he touches his own neck, immediately feeling that more are about to come out. Whatever Kaworu's confession is, it's something he has kept for a long time and something he never really admitted to, given how hard this affliction is hitting him ]

Not knowing for sure was not going to stop her from venturing closer, holding her hand up to her mouth to stage whisper loudly:]
Are we supposed to be cryptic around the temples?

Honesty "Jonesy" Jones / Shadowrun OC
[Repressed feelings? Her? Never.
That's what Jonesy would tell herself, at least, if she knew the source of this petal pestilence.
As it stands, though, the tall, gibbon-like woman is making her way through the crowd, covering her mouth as more and more fragrant petals appear and try to spill out.
She is... more than a little concerned about this.]
Excuse me - [She covers her mouth with her hand once more as she lets out a sputtering cough. Yellow and blue petals flutter gently to the floor.] Something's wrong, I need- [Another cough. This time the petals are pink.] I need a doctor.
Network Post
ok so its beginning to seem like this is real and that i am not experiencing a biofeedback induced grand mal seizure OR trapped in a very extensive VR sim from which i cannot escape.
in which case i must ask:
what the FUCK
you kidnap the best hacker in LA , take me to an alternate fucking dimension in a city filled with sapient robots and dragons and gods and no one wants me to do anything? no hacking, no repairs, no IT work? i didnt get grabbed because someone was planning a cool interdimensional heist that they need my skills for? i'm just supposed to hug people?
i am feeling EXTREMELY undervalued here.
