April (Lasai) Test Drive Meme
Premise ♥ Setting ♥ Rules ♥ FAQ ♥ Mod Contact
Lasai is a beautiful month. The weather is warmer, the sky is a breathtaking blue again, and with the flowers from Ainir growing nicely, the entire city of Havenwell just feels more alive with every breath. It's a time of renewal, of rebirth, of Ainea's greatest strength as her adherents open the temple gates to invite people and robots from all walks of life to enter and share together. A recent expansion of the walls has left the outer limits of the city in a more devastated, apocalyptic appearance, and newcomers are warned to steer clear of the open areas due to the potential danger, but there are no walls to stop you if you choose to venture out...
❥ PROMPT I: The Wild Wild West (East, South and North)

At the start of Lasai, the walls of the city had pushed outwards, shifting and spreading to create a new barrier further out, revealing ruined, broken sections of the city left out in the wild storms of the world for too long. The people of town are celebrating, happy to share the tale of how the walls suddenly moved and expanded their town, granting them access to new regions, perhaps even their old homes.
It's not all fun and games, however. Among the din of their celebration, other cries emerge from the newly incorporated ruins: cries that sound like howls and screeches, and certainly do not sound human. Grab your weapons (if you have any) and steel yourselves, off-worlders, as with the addition of this new space comes the need to clear it of anything potentially dangerous that got caught up in the expansion. Not all creatures you'll find are hostile, but some certainly are. Docile ones might just fetch a nice price from the Research Towers and the Conservatory if you can capture a mating pair.
OOC: These are the creatures you can encounter in the city as you go through to clear it. It's not an invasion level of infestation, as the majority of creatures will prefer to remain inside their known territory beyond the original barrier, but you will on occasion need to take up arms and fight. Next to their names are the frequency with which you can find them, ranging from common to extremely rare.

Next to their names are the frequency with which you can find them, ranging from common to extremely rare.
- Inky Black Spiders (common - hostile): These relatively small, black spider-like creatures have very basic melee attacks, using their fangs and their sharp legs to bite and claw at people. Those who were around in October when the wall broke will recognize them as the most common enemy back then. Their exoskeletons are hard and when they die, they smash into a black goo. They tend to travel in packs, using sheer numbers to overwhelm their prey.
- One-Eyed Lizard (uncommon - docile): An iridescent scaly purple and green lizard approximately 8 to 10cm in length from tip to tail. It has a single eye at the top of its head that can rotate to see 360 degrees around it. This creature's main defenses are its tough hide and a spine on the tip of its tail which it whips at predators to dissuade them from eating it. It's more likely to run than fight, however, and can usually be found sunbathing on exposed rock with its eye closed.
- "Bone Giraffe" (extremely rare - hostile): A nearly 20-foot tall, long-necked skeleton of a four-legged creature long dead with a single curved horn protruding from its skull and a sharp snout. It's usually found lying in a heap, as if it laid down and died that way. A black seven-petaled flower sometimes (but not always) grows from the skull and beneath the skeleton is an oily black film. Touching the oil slick activates the creature, which draws the oil up into the skeletal cage. Its main attacks are brute force, using its bony legs and neck to kick and slam against its prey, and its acid breath. It breathes a black fume that sizzles and burns anything it touches.
- Rive Talon (rare - hostile - medium): In the past these creatures may have been canines of some form, now they seem to have melded with the detritus of the fallen buildings and creatures of the landscape. Extra spikes, ridges, and protrusions extend from its body at odd angles. Many of them are metal or stone, rather than bone. And some of the bones clearly were not originally its own. (Suggested by Sierra!)
- Outskirts Hare (uncommon - docile): A shy creature, roughly the size and shape of an earth hare, covered in fuzzy-looking, curly pink hair and cat-like whiskers. Normally quite timid, this creature's poor eyesight causes it to flee when it feels threatened, and relies largely on a sense of touch to navigate its surroundings. Contact with this creature's fur is markedly pleasant, but its skin discharges an oil that causes mild skin irritation on contact when it's nervous. Active mostly at night time. (Suggested by Mel!)
- Ansaurini (rare - annoying): a bipedal feathered bird with sharp claws and teeth good for chomping; some possess flight capabilities, but the majority are prone to a lazy waddle. Mostly harmless and deceptively unassuming until you turn your back- and suddenly it's run off with something it stole off your person! They are excellent at escaping, though they can be traced back to their hoard, and if their collection is raided they will make a lot of noise in protest. Just watch your back- they will try again until you leave their territory. Truly, a horrible thing.
❥ PROMPT II: Welcome to the (Urban) Jungle
Once the newly revealed area is deemed safe enough to venture into, the city council will put out a call for those willing and able to assist the natives with a clean-up effort. The city outside the walls is badly damaged, left to the ravages of the time and the ever-present storm, which means clearing dust, debris, and flotsam is a high priority before people can begin to repair the new districts and salvage material or live there. Thick brown vines cover large parts of the city, grime from the storm is caked onto windows, rocks and scattered rotted bones and twisted metal can be found in roads and crashed through buildings. The atmosphere in this part of the city seems to mirror the decrepit state of the land, too, feeling heavier and grayer and more depressing than it has any right to be. Going out with people and helping together, taking breaks to lean against one another tends to help clear away any negativity that this land seems to bring to your thoughts, however. Since it's dangerous to go alone, be sure to take a friend.
The biggest concern is the vines, so natives offer to lend machetes to the offworlders to help the hack them away. The vines look brown and dead, the leaves withered and curled up. When characters hack into them, the vines release a puff of yellowish dust. Inhale the dust or get it anywhere near your face and over time, you'll begin to get sleepy - very sleepy. It's hard to keep your eyes open, no matter your resistance to poisons or magic, and eventually you'll find yourself falling asleep wherever you are. And once you're asleep? The vines start moving, crawling toward you at a snail's pace. Hopefully you did bring a friend because you'll need their touch to wake up and stay awake long enough to get away from the vines before they pull you deep within their grasp.

❥ PROMPT III: Take a Load Off

Not everyone can fight or clean or even wants to do it, so while those who are more suited to being on the front lines are off doing their thing, those who remain behind must begin the effort of preparing everything that people will need to live in these new areas. At the temples and in the main square, the priests have set up large rest areas with blankets and pillows, and are busily putting together repair kits for mechanics and explorers to use as they go through the ruins. Those who want a place to rest that doesn't require going all the way back to their homes might find these waystations more convenient.
At each, characters can find hot soups with chunks of hearty replicated breads and both hot and cold drinks available for any who wish it. They're trying to replicate pain medications and bandages for people who have been injured while exploring or fighting off the monsters who were unlucky enough to be left inside, and will ask you to try it if you're injured. Taking this medication might have some unintended side effects, however, like a feeling of euphoria or delusions of grandeur or even something as banal as turning your hair a shocking shade of chartreuse - the effect, if you want one, is up to you!
The rest areas also have robots "skilled" in giving massages that are looking to test their newly acquired skills and with four pairs of arms, they can work on two people at once! In fact, they're rather insistent about giving you a free massage if they hear even the slightest hint of fatigue in your voice and will usher people into their curtained off booths regardless of whether they know the other occupant or not. These robots are still learning though, so anyone curious enough to try may need to work with their partner to give these robots pointers. They're trying, but not having fragile little flesh bodies is a major obstacle in learning how to have a gentle touch.

QUESTIONS
Luna | Zero Escape
[Arriving here had been nothing short of overwhelming for Luna. Realizing she's actually alive, feeling sensations and emotions that she's never felt before, and not to mention the locals being so fascinated by the fact that she's a robot with such a realistic-looking body... It comes as no surprise that she had to hide away for a while.
It's night time when she decides to explore, including the new area that everyone's so excited about. Of course, the first ever live animal she comes across happens to be the Ansaurini, and though she tries to coo at it and pet it, it always moves away from her. She's only a bit disheartened, though, and she swears she only turned away for a second before she felt the sensation of something being pulled off her neck.]
Ah!
[Her necklace! The horrible
gooseAnsaurini took it and is taking off with it! Luna absolutely can't lose that, so she gives chase!]Please, stop!
[Help her out!]
II.
[Well... She ought to help however she can, right? Luna's one of the volunteers to help clear away the debris, as she's deceptively strong and doesn't need rest. She's paired up with someone, most likely you, and she blinks as she's given a machete, holding it like one would a foreign object.]
Oh...
[These really aren't the type of tools nurses normally wield.]
III.
[Having realized she's really not cut out for these adventures, Luna hangs back to help the locals at the waystations. She's incredibly unsure about the pain medications, so if your character starts to have weird side effects, Luna's at their side immediately.]
I'm sorry! They're still learning how to develop functional pain medication. How are you feeling now?
IV.
[Wildcard!]
I
What's wrong?

That bird! It took my necklace!
[Now excuse her, but she's going to speed up again. She feels bad, because that's rude, but the necklace is important!]

Shen Qingqiu 1.0 (teen) | Scum Villain
[Shen Qingqiu is, as every single last one of his schoolmates can attest, not a friendly person. And finding himself suddenly lost in an entirely new world isn't helping his mood in the slightest.
Getting the opportunity to discover rare and excitingly new creatures, however, does help take the edge off things. There's a reason Shen Qingqiu managed to rise to head disciple so quickly back home, and that reason is the fact he's secretly a huge nerd under his incredibly rude demeanor. Having just dispatched of a rive talon, he's currently leaning curiously over its body, poking it with his sword in much the same way you might see a kid poking ants with a stick.]
...Surprisingly inorganic. I wonder what they eat? [Meat? Rocks? Buildings?]
ii.
[Machetes aren't elegant weapons. Or tools I guess. Not in design, not in use, and therefore not something the head disciple of the most famously elegant Qingjing Peak would be caught dead using.
The truth is he signed up for this because he had nothing better to do but doesn't actually feel like putting in any real effort when there's so many other volunteers available. End result being, he's giving you the machete and motioning at the nearest patch of vines.]
Go on then. Start chopping.
iii.
[However talented or elegant he may be, he's still just a lost and disoriented teen in the end. Sooner or later he ends up in the rest area, insisting on bandaging his own injuries thankyouverymuch. He accepts one of the pain medications from a kind volunteer, but doesn't take it straightaway; instead he stares at it suspiciously, narrowing his eyes with a frown (if only he had any idea what this was made of!) before finally swallowing the replicated...whatever this is.
...Huh.
He feels a whole lot better now, actually. There's a blink, two blinks, and suddenly his whole body seems to relax as a smile makes its way onto his face. This is the first genuine smile he's made since arrival so feel free to be terrified.]
ii
Got my own, thanks. [He angles just enough to show he's got a much better sword - a nice, sturdy, black sword - hanging from his belt.] Guess that means you can help, too.

Sougo Ousaka | IDOLiSH7
[This is definitely A Lot after having just found himself in a situation that he's uncertain of, but Sougo is determined to do his best to help these people - at least until he can figure out a way to get back home.
The most pressing issue, as far as he can tell, is getting these new areas explored and declared safe for habitation. While Sougo doesn't really have the... skill set required to help out with something quite of this nature, he's more than happy to stop anyone who seems to be going out alone or unarmed - offering to find them someone to go with them or to get them a machete quickly before they go.]
2) Massage
[It is Very Unfortunate that Sougo is always stressed on some level. So the ... massage robots pick up on that instantly and manage to wrangle him into a chair. Which leaves Sougo staring blankly at ... whoever was here before him, looking somewhat embarrassed.]
I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. If you'll excuse me...
[Trying to get up and leave proves fruitless though. He looks gently panicked. Pls help.]
3) Wildcard
[If there's something you'd like to do with Sougo, just let me know~ I'm up for anything.]

Kanao Tsuyuri | Kimetsu no Yaiba
( Kanao didn't understand this new world all that much. It's a lot different from the place that she calls home. She has been more or less wandering around aimlessly without much purpose. She hasn't seen any signs of the people she knows, which is odd because noise tends to follow them wherever they go. Though, it seems her wandering has brought her eye to eye with...
An odd looking creature. It looks up at her innocently which drops Kanao's guard just a bit. Is it hurt? It doesn't seem to be moving, as if it just resigned itself to it's face. Kanao slowly drops to one knee to get a closer look. She has some experience with animals, usually cats, but birds can't be that different. She'll at least take it somewhere safe and-- )
Ah.
( With her own silent musings, she doesn't realize the creatures true intentions which is stealing her hair clip right from her head. Her hair falls down to her shoulders and she can only watch in mild surprise as the creature runs away. Kanao quickly gets up, her sword raised as she begins chasing after the creature. )
It's fast!
( This somehow feels familiar... )
II.
( A machete feels a lot different than the nichirin blade that she usually uses it. She isn't sure why she was given on as she carries around her own blade with her. But perhaps it is because this blade is different? )
Is it better at cutting the vines than a normal blade?
( She asks innocently. )
Are heads and vines so different in thickness that they require a different blade? ( Maybe she should have elaborated on what she does for a living instead of just casually mentioning the beheading thing. )
III.
( A fight against a particularly nasty Rive Talon is something that Kanao didn't expect to struggle with so badly but she did nonetheless. It is partially her fault in a way as she did underestimate her opponent just a bit. It resulted in a rough tumble and heavy cuts. And while the enemy had been defeated, the pain still lingered.
Now she rests in a spot in the main square, being handed medicine to her to help her with the pain. She gives a polite thank you before she downs it without any complaint or questions. Everything seems normal at first. Actually, it seems to be helping deal with the pain a lot easier than she had been before.
But then a wetness fills her eyes. One tear falls, then two. And suddenly the feeling of relief is replaced with the aching pain of sadness. Kanao looks to the ground, crying heavily as if she endured the worlds heaviest loss. )
I'm sorry... ( She apologizes. She doesn't know who it is to though. But she feels as if she needed to nonetheless. )
III
O-oh, it's okay, you can cry as much as y--
[Click!]
...ah!! K-Kanao-chan! What are you doing here??
[She does not let go of the younger girl's shoulders though. Because oh no this sweet girl is crying! And she has a soft spot for Shinobu's protege!]
Evan MacMillan (aka The Trapper) || Dead by Daylight
He's also been forced into murdering and sacrificing people for quite some time so he might be/come off as a little hostile. (」°∇°)」 He's also very tall. Here's a gif to see how tall he is next to a survivor. Thanks! tl;dr incoming ]]
I
[ Evan's arrival to this world was... chaotic for the locals. He came in swinging violently, unable to recognize that what had ensnared him this time was no longer the Entity... or was it? He didn't know. The Entity played tricks, manipulated and pulled at the fabrics of reality to drive them to an unknown endgame. What remained of his humanity made him fight his new captor regardless, and when they finally got him under control with heavy sedation, they were able to speak to him properly. At the very least, he stopped being combative, but he only listened without acknowledgement.
Evan refused to believe he was here for less nefarious reasons than his last field trip into the unknown, but when he arrived in a world that was exceedingly bright and overwhelming to the senses in comparison to the last one... well, he was still skeptical, but less so. But why here? Why now?
They gave him an objective he would be good at if it would help him settle in - fighting. Killing, is what he heard, but not people - just monsters. He was allowed to keep his weapon on the basis he ONLY HURT THE THINGS HURTING OTHERS. To Evan, that was a loophole waiting to happen, but he was a smart man. He knew he was outnumbered here by not 3 but many, and he did not know what they were capable of.
Evan went to the designated location with his cleaver in hand, absolutely fearless as to what he could be facing. If he heard someone scream, it was instinct at this point to go to it to try and catch the person he's meant to kill, but he tries to remember it's not them he needs to eliminate - it's whatever monstrosities show up instead. Just don't get in the way of his wide swings. He isn't responsible at that point. ]
II
[ WHAT THE FUCK ARE FRIENDS
Evan went in alone, still annoyed by his position and wanting to just hit whatever his cleaver can reach. He does stop every so often to absorb the decrepit state of this area. It was... more what he was used to. From his challenges under the Entity's whim to working in the mines back when he was a mere man... It was unusually comforting. The whispers were gone, the driving thirst for blood - he didn't know what to do with the absence of fear and rage. It made him... tired.
He would sit, back to a wall he'd just cleared away, and listen to silence as if it were a song he'd never heard before. ]
III
[ Even Evan had a limit to what he could do for an extended period of time. He was used to being awake for days, not eating or resting, but again, humanity crept in and reminded him he was once just a man - perhaps still just a man. He's a changed man, is all, right?
Evan would find his way into one of the waystations, looking for a place to close his eyes and perhaps grab some food. He thought about killing any wildlife or trying to eat the monsters he had been wiping out previously, but he wasn't foolish enough to just shove anything unnatural like that in his mouth.
Evan might give the impression that he had been beaten and stabbed by the looks of his body, but opted to keep going. He's kept his mask on this entire time, unwilling to part with something he was familiar with. Besides, he would rather hang on to what has kept him alive than admit to being a miner's son underneath. It felt as if parting with it now would make him mortal - He isn't sure about speaking to an actual person, so he just stomps off to find what he's looking for - but he can't. These machines were... something else. He very nearly wants to hit it for food. And he somewhat begins to do so. ]
2...this will go very badly
The momentary relief that it's not a demon will go away just as fast because when he sees who the sound belongs to and immediately lets a short shriek out. ]

Yasu | Show By Rock!!
[ Despite being a musician, Yasu's background lies in fighting. Just not fighting monsters. So while he initially was a little hesitant on defending against the spiders, eventually you'd see this guy beating up the spiders with whatever he can get his hands on at the time, whether it be a stick or whatnot. It's definitely noticeable that he's not used to fighting with a weapon though, as he swings away at the insects a little awkwardly.
If he notices you, or if you decide to join to help out, you'll instead receive a frustrated click of his tongue as Yasu glares at you. ]
The hell are you doing? Go help other people out! I'll take care of these idiots.
[ He sure is friendly... ]
[ II - Jungle ]
[ Normally, Yasu would be prone to not caring about doing additional community service. In fact he still doesn't have a good impression towards doing any community service, even though it gave him the first step into performing music.
It's probably also very obvious of his mindset as he's squatting off
he's a delinquentto the side with the machete on the side looking bored. The only community service he'll do is performing music, thanks. He definitely is slacking off on this most likely volun-told job, but at least he's not at risk of being in danger of falling asleep any time soon. ][ III - Resting ]
[ Unlike those who are more used to battling, Yasu's just a high school delinquent in a world of music. He definitely has cuts and bruises from fighting the monsters and eventually the vines as well, so he's getting them treated when he's eventually dragged back away from the frontlines.
He'll quietly take the bandages and medicine and rests quietly as he fiddles around with his guitar while sitting on the bed. ]

Labrys | Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
[ It's been a little overwhelming, to say the least, for Labrys since she's arrived. Being tossed from one strange world to another isn't exactly new to her, but this is the first time it's come with such a huge rush of sensation that's come with it. Knowing the data through her sensors and actually feeling it all for herself are two very different things and if she's not careful, she's going to lose her head over it.
So, loathe as she is to do it, Labrys decides to try and dive headfirst into the one thing she knows she's good at – fighting. Maybe if she can concentrate on making this place safer for people, she won't have a meltdown. Maybe.
If she spots you out and about in the wilds, she'll come hurrying over, positively radiating the aura of someone who is desperately looking for Ways To Be Productive. Please help. ]
Hey! You doin' okay so far? Things are pretty hairy out here, but so long as we stick together, we should manage okay. Ya run into any trouble yet?
[ Either that, or you might spot her sitting very still and quiet, staring at what seems to be nothing in particular. If she sees you approach, she'll very hastily shush you with a finger to her lips – but she's smiling, so it can't be all bad. ]
Keep it down, but get over here nice 'n slow! You gotta come see this!
[ If you follow her instructions, you'll see that what she's entranced with is one of the hares that just seems to be minding its own business. It's a little skittish to see two people hanging around, but doesn't seem to be going anywhere yet. ]
I've been makin' friends with this little guy for the past little while. You think once he settles down a little more, we might be able to pet him?

Piers | Pokemon
[While Piers usually tried to stay out of things like this, he can't really look away either- and if he's stuck in this weird place he might as well help. Of course he can't fight himself. But he does have his pokemon and they are more than capable.
They're mostly taking on the spiders, with Skuntank spraying poisons to weaken the creatures before Scrafty darts in and takes them out one by one with it's fighting moves. Still, there's a lot of them and only two pokemon and one scrawny human... he might need some help.]
III
[After the fighting Piers decides against the cleanup. He's not strong, and his pokemon aren't built for that kinda work. So he hangs around the main square helping carry things occasionally.
But besides that he sets up the amp that came with him, along with his guitar- and once he finds an outlet to use he can be found playing music for the gathered workers. Usually quiet and relaxing fare even though it's an electric instrument. He might even be singing here and there if you're lucky. He's not busking- there's no sign or anything. But if you wanted to sneak him a tip his communicator IS visible in his pocket.
Eventually, though he gets 'caught' by the robots and-]
I told you, I don' need a rub down!
[Plz help... or maybe convince him to go along with it- he certainly LOOKS stressed!]
III
So when he hears someone singing out there, backed by a guitar that really doesn't seem like it should be capable of sounding so mellow? Will is quick to check it out, in spite of the heartsick little lurch in his stomach. He arrives just in time to see a familiar face--and for the singing to turn into protests, as the hopeful masseur in training accosts him.
He swans over to join in with a mischievous smile. Do you recognize him, Piers? It was only one brief meeting a while ago, no matter how distinctive the mask is--and he's grown his hair out quite a bit.]
Awwww, no need to be shy! What if I do it instead~?

Pardon me.
[He says, quietly before slamming his axe down into one of the spiders.]
I hope you don't mind me helping out.

The Nomad | Nomad of Nowhere | /shows up 100 years late without Starbucks
[Sunshine? Hot weather? Desolate, ruined city? As much as Havenwell is supposed to be a different world entirely, this part of it sure feels a lot like Nowhere.]
[Which means the Nomad is right at home. He's been cheerily exploring, and can currently be seen crouching down, waving happily at a spider, completely unaware of the shadows in the corners promising more spiders.]
[He is absolutely trying to make friends with it.]
[Please help him.]
IIa. A Matter of Leverage
[The Nomad seems to be directing a small crew, made up entirely of rocks. Of course, these aren't normal rocks: they all sport googly eyes and stick figure arms and legs, and they're working together to pick up and move pieces of debris, stacking them in a haphazard pile down the way. The Nomad isn't terribly strong himself, and appears to be struggling under a larger piece of debris while several rock critters wave their arms at him in agitation. They can't get it off him - they don't have the leverage!]
[One of the critters runs over and tugs at your ankle. C'mon! Help!]
IIb. Goldcliff This Ain't
[The Nomad could use a machete himself, or he could ask the machete to help. It's something of a no-brainer, and in no time, there's a small gaggle of machetes with googly eyes and stick figure arms and legs vigorously hacking away at the vines while the Nomad stands back and supervises. Maybe you're approaching and he waves a cheery hello!]
[Or maybe you're flat on the ground, and he's trying to shake you awake as his machete posse takes care of the encroaching vines. Are you okay?]
IIa
He was moving to another area when he felt a tug at his pant leg. Looking down, it was one of the eyed-rocks, and it seemed to need help. Following it, he was led back to where Nomad was stuck under a rock.
Grabbing the axe on his back, he maneuvers it like a lever, sticking the end of the handle at the edge of the rock.]
I'll lift on three, move when you can.
[He counts, and on three, moves the rock, at least a bit.]

I
Don't just crouch there, you idiot. Move!
[ Sasuke will try to fend off as many spiders as he can, but a tactical retreat is the best option for these numbers. ]
